We have two field trips planned for the 2008-2009 school year:
First, on September 19th, we took a bus up to
Heather Meadows at Mt. Baker and did some hiking! Many of our
students have never been to Mt. Baker before and were surprised at the
beauty of the mountains. This field trip included a visit to the
Ranger Station in Glacier where Forest Service rangers taught the
students about the mountains, trees, and glaciers that we will see at
Heather Meadows. This field trip coincided with our unit on earth
science and erosion.
Second,
our class will take a field trip to the Woodland Park Zoo in May! We will leave
school bright and early so we can enter the zoo by 10 am. We
will leave the zoo around 2 pm. Students study habitat exhibits and
endangered species in preparation for this field trip.
We participated in the annual Ten Mile Creek fundraiser in
September to raise funds for these field trips. Thank you for
supporting your school and our classroom. We hope the fundraiser
will cover field trip expenses 100%.
