Medical Emergencies

Critical emergency responses:

  1. Keep calm.
  2. If an incident is observed and you are alone, call 911 immediately and return to offer assistance.
If others are present:
  • Remain with the injured. Send a messenger to notify administrative staff to call 911. Tell messenger to provide specific information as to the location of the person injured and of the type of injury that has been sustained.
  • The first responder (EMT and first aid-trained staff) should administer first aid measures.
  • The second responder - adults and responsible older students – should control and remove onlookers and bystanders.
  • Note the names of witnesses to the event.
  • File incident report.
