Meridian Middle School Time Capsule Opening and Mural Retirement

The community is invited to join us at Meridian Middle School at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21 to open the 2002 time capsule. The time capsule was placed inside the wall near the front entrance by the class of 2006.

This will also be an opportunity for our community to say goodbye to the murals near the main office and in the cafeteria. Both of these murals are several decades old, have been well loved, and are seeing signs of wear and damage. The murals will be painted over this summer. Next year, students will work together on creating a new design to cover the walls.

Summer Bus Driver Training Opportunity

Our Transportation Department is hosting a bus driver training course this summer. The course will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning July 10. The training includes instruction, pre-trip inspection, behind-the-wheel training, ride-alongs, a final written exam and a road test. Trainees are required to have their CDL-P and Medical Certificate prior to beginning class.

Completing the training means you will meet the requirements to be a bus driver. Participants who successfully complete the training, pass all required tests and work for Meridian School District for 120 days will be reimbursed for costs associated with the CDL and paid for the training. If you are interested and want to learn more, contact Transportation at 360-318-2171 by Friday, June 30.
