Dear Meridian Students, Parents, Faculty, Staff and Residents,

Thank you, once again, for the warm welcome back to the district. Much of this first week has been spent driving the district, touring all facilities and grounds, and meeting with district directors about past work and future plans. In short, I've been trying to ground and reacquaint myself with the district. It is my understanding these weekly updates are typically suspended during the summer months. We will resume them as we approach September. Please don’t hesitate to contact the district office throughout the summer months if you have any questions or concerns at (360) 398-7111. Have an outstanding summer!

Congratulations:
On Monday, July 2nd, we received a letter from the Superintendent of Public Instruction out of Olympia. State Superintendent Rykdal shared accolades for the superb work by our transportation department. It reads, "After reviewing the results of the recent Washington State Patrol annual inspection, we recognize that your district has again completed the inspection of school buses with exceptional results. For the past two years, the results in your district have been outstanding." Before the end of the school year our entire fleet of buses and support vehicles were inspected by the Washington State Patrol (WSP). None of our district vehicles were placed "Out of Service" for safety violations. Congratulations to our technician, K.B. Bilg, for his outstanding work to ensure our buses are operating at the highest level and our drivers' awareness to the mechanical needs of our buses. Safety is the primary goal for these inspections. This recognition is a reflection of the high standards our transportation department has for ensuring our students are transported on buses that meet these rigorous safety standards.
