Mission Statement

The goal of the library is to ensure that staff and students are effective users of ideas and information. We emphasize literature so that students become lifelong readers. Our goal is to help all children see themselves as effective readers who can become independent readers. Literacy enrichment in the library supports the  Open Court Reading program. Integrated in this program is 6-Traits Writing Model.

All students visit the school library weekly for library instruction, story and book selection. We encourage students to choose one book at their reading level. Non-fiction materials are encouraged to broaden learning styles and interests.

Our Students are Readers!

As March ends and spring break is upon us all,our Librarian wants to give everyone another reason to smile.

We are happy to report that 95% of all 2nd and 3rd grade students met their reading goal in the Accelerated Reader program for March. Together with the first graders (who have an entirely different goal system) took 2,701 tests and  collectively read 1,928,336 words just in March!  Happy Reading Everyone!

Dear IRPS & TMCE Families,

In support of the Meridian School District’s vision that “Each student will succeed through quality, inspirational and innovative education,” the school board is pleased to be able to offer a pilot program of Curriculum and Instructional Support (CIS)for all enrolled students. CIS is designed to allow experiences to be selected based on each student’s individual educational needs.

This program is currently offered for spring  of the 2011-2012 school year as a provisional program. The Request Form is attached here, can be found under Important Links, and is coming home with your students on March 5.
