Meridian School District Receives Clean Audit for 2012-13

The Meridian School District was recently audited by the Washington State Auditors Office.  The auditors examine the District's financial operations, accounting,  internal controls, and adherence to a myriad of federal and state laws and regulations.

The District received a "clean" audit for the 2012-2013 school year.  This is like the District's annual report card.  A "clean" audit means that the auditors did not identify any non-compliance issues in the District's use of federal, state, or local funds.

New Safety Features at Meridian Schools

Single Point of Entry System at Meridian High School and Irene Reither Elementary

Both new school buildings (IRE and MHS) had entry camera systems installed at the front doors as part of the construction project.  Now that construction is completed, the District is now implementing a single-point of entry camera system during the school day at both of these sites.  The system requires people to be “buzzed in” the front door during the school day.  All other exterior doors to these schools are to be locked to ensure student and staff safety.

School Board Adopts New Strategic Plan

Following a process that included community, staff and student input during the fall of 2013, the Meridian School Board recently adopted a new Strategic Plan for the District.  This plan will help guide District decisions into the future.  The Meridian School District remains committed to continuous improvement of our programs, facilities, and operations.

Thank you to all people who were involved in the development of this new plan.
