The Meridian School District works in partnership with our families and our community to educate each student in a safe and supportive learning environment to become a positive contributor to society.
The PTA would like to extend a warm welcome to you to the 2011-2012 school year at IRPS and TMCE. WHOO HOO….The kids are back to school! We are very excited to start this new year and have a lot of fun things planned and in the making to hopefully make this a great year for all the students, teachers, and families. Some of these events occurring in the next three to four months include:
TMCE Charleston Wrap Fundraiser starting September 14th
Family Skate Night September 22nd6:00-8:30 at the Lynden Skateway
IRPS Jog-a-thon in October 5th
Snuggle Up And Read in November
Christmas Food Drive and The Giving Tree in December
With these activities, as well as others, we always welcome LOTS of volunteers. This brings me to a new challenge we would like to put out to the families of IRPS and TMCE. We challenge you to take the “Two Hour Power Pledge”. This pledge is extended to ALL parents, families, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and anyone else involved in your kids’ lives to pledge to volunteer two hours during the 2011-2012 school year. This volunteer work can work around schedules and includes, but is not limited to, event coordination and assistance, office work, committees, etc. Studies over the last 30 years show that family involvement increases students test scores, teacher morale, and parent-teacher communication. Students whose families are involved also attend school more regularly and have better social skills. Involvement is one to the best ways to improve our school!
More information will be sent out as well as a pledge form to return with your kids to school. As we say…”Just Do It….Get involved!”.
