SCHOOL BOARD ANNOUNCES  "Irene Reither Elementary School" AS THE NAME OF NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

At the March 13th MSD School  Board meeting, members of the board unanimously voted in the name of the new elementary school.  Irene Reither is remembered for her dedication to her elementary and primary school students.  Beginning in 1936 she spent 40 years of her teaching career for the Meridian School District.  She volunteered 18 more years at IRPS after her retirement until her passing in 1995.   One or two scholarships are   awarded each year from a perpetual fund established through her estate.  In May 1977 Irene Reither was honored by having the current "Irene Reither Primary School"  named after her.  Her legacy will continue through the naming of the new Preschool - 5th grade elementary school currently scheduled for completion in Winter of 2013.

"Protein is essential for buildinghealthy bodies. It is needed for growth and maintenance of muscles, bones, and body organs. The building blocks of protein are called amino acids, and while some are made in our body, others come only from the food we consume. On average, 10- 30% of your child’s diet should come from healthy protein sources. Most children consume more than enough protein on a daily basis but for many, they are not getting it from the healthiest sources." Read more

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION PROGRAM @ IRPS AND TMCE

Our Box Top collection is going strong. At IRPS Mrs. Ballard’s class is well in the lead with 2340 box tops. Mrs.Updike’s class is in second with 1249, and rounding out the top 3 is Mrs. Gunderson’s Monday/Thursday class with 569. At TMCE Mrs. Moe’s class is in the lead with 451 box tops. Mr. Lissner’s class is in second with 443, and in 3rd place Mrs. Wood’s class with 291. Collect those tops and turn them in to the collection area in each classroom.
Collection so far this year has raised $880.30. This is a great way to fundraise at school. Each class is working towards their ice cream and pizza parties, as well as purchasing needed items and programs for our schools.
Thank you to Mrs. Driediger for counting, sorting, and managing the Box Tops Program.
