Spring is near and March has come in like a lion so let’s hope it goes out like a lamb, and don’t forget to “spring forward” on Sunday, March 9th.  It is hard to believe that we are only a month away from the end of the Third Quarter and spring conferences are only two weeks away.  Classroom teachers are preparing our students to take the Smarter Balanced Assessment this spring by having them do the practice and training assessments on line.  If you are interested in previewing the Smarter Balanced Assessment you may access it by going to http://www.smarterbalanced.org/practice-test/.  Students have continued to work hard, striving for excellence, and staff members have continued using their planning and collaborative time involved in activities designed to enhance instruction and increase student engagement.

Our school is a great place to learn, develop new skills, and get a solid foundation for future educational pursuits.  We would like to maintain our educational progress and keep our focus on academics.  Unfortunately, students sometimes bring valuable items from home to school which can cause a distraction in the educational process.  We encourage both students and parents to be aware of our policies and keep valuables at home.

There are a number of electronic devices that students should not bring to school. These devices include IPODs, digital games, collectibles, expensive jewelry, large sums of money, expense clothing, etc. Cell phones are to be turned off during school hours and safely stored.  Cell phone use and or texting during school hours is prohibited. Students have access to telephones in their classrooms and in the office.  If you need to leave a message for your child during the school day please contact the office at 360-398-2291.

Once again, we thank our parents and the community for all of the positive support we receive. And, as always, we enjoy working with your children.

Respectfully,

Jerry Sanderson
