MHS Principal's Message

April 14, 2014

Greetings! I invite all current 8th-11th grade students and their families to join us at MHS on Wednesday, April 16th. Our doors open at 6:00pm. We will have representatives from each department, club and athletic program on hand to answer any questions you may have.

At 6:30 we will have a brief dedication for our newly installed artwork. Artist John Wehrle painted several scenes for us and they have been installed. Shortly afterward, we will move to the auditorium for a brief conversation and a presentation by our counselors. Then there will be more time to meander the tables. Thank you!

The next parent roundtable meeting is Tuesday, April 22nd at 6:00pm. This is an opportunity for parents to come and speak with Mr. Harvill and myself about topics of interest. These run for about an hour and are in our library and we commonly have cookies and coffee.

If you have any questions about the content of this message, please contact us at the office. Our number is 398-8111.

Thank you and have a great day!

Whatcom County Health Department Measles Letter

This letter is being provided as a precautionary step to provide parents with information concerning a recent measles outbreak in British Columbia:

An unimmunized child in Whatcom County tested positive for measles this month after being exposed to the virus at a private school in Canada. There is currently an outbreak of measles in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia which is located just north of the border. As of March 26, 2014 British Columbia Health Officials reported 237 confirmed cases of measles. The majority of the cases are related to a private school that has a very high number of unvaccinated children. View the letter here...

AP Exam Fees and Ordering Information

AP students and families: It is now time to order AP exams. Our AP teachers are asking students to make a commitment to test (or not) by Wednesday of this week. Regular AP exam fees have not gone up this year. They are $89 per exam and represent a great value for those who attain a score allowing them to claim credits at the college level. For students seeking financial assistance, there is a verification form, available here and from Mrs. Heslep in the main office. Qualifiying students will be charged $18 per exam. Mrs. Heslep will be able to help with any questions you may have.
