September 2007 Tuesday/Friday Class
Dear Parents,
The students (and I) are adjusting quickly and learning the routine of kindergarten.
Thank you for allowing me to share in your child's life this year. I am enjoying getting to know each one better and I am looking forward to helping each one experience a successful first year at Irene Reither Primary School. The students are all very eager to get started and they are filled with a great deal of enthusiasm. Currently, we have 19 students, 10 boys and 9 girls. I am assessing each student, individually, to find out his/her strengths and needs. After each student is assessed, I will work with small groups to better meet the needs of each child.
I plan to have a snack for the children every morning at 10:10.
It is a long morning for 5-6 year olds and a snack in the morning helps them a little more easily to make it through until lunch. Each child will be scheduled to provide a snack for the class, about 4 times during the year. A snack schedule will be sent home at the beginning of every other month. Please send items that are easily served. We will be drinking water, so juice is not necessary.
I enjoy having parents work in our classroom. I have found that it works best if the children bond to me and learn my expectations before parents start volunteering. I will be
sending out a schedule to start in October, for classroom volunteers at the end of this month.
We will be having a "work party" on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 9:15 a.m. We need parents to assemble student reading books.
We are hoping to have several parents help and then it will only take a couple of hours. Please come if you can help.
Finally, I feel honored to be your child's teacher this year. I am very aware of the importance of successful school experiences in the early grades.
I look forward to the challenge of ensuring that each child feels successful and valued. You can reach me at school 398-2111 or by e-mail msiadal@meridian.wednet.edu I welcome your concerns and will work with you to help your child.
Sincerely, Michelle Siadal
