Meridian Early Childhood Program
Families We Are Serving: The Meridian Early Childhood Program is currently serving over 50 families through our preschool and parent education programs:
- We provide services through an individual education program for student who have a developmetal delay in 1 or more areas.
- We also have children who are attending preschool or pre-kindergarten classes as members of the cooperative preschool.
- Families are participating in our EXPLORE program every Friday.
Motheread: Parents learn more about how to develop their child's literacy skills. They are able to ask personal and general developmental questions in order to increase their
skills and promote literacy at home. Children engage in a variety of learning activities that foster their love of books, songs and stories. Families receive a free book at each Motheread class.
Kindergarten Dial-3 Screening: This screening provides valuable data about incoming students, through Parent Interviews, registration information, and screening in the areas of vision, hearing, motor, language, concepts and behavior. Each kindergartner who enters Irene Reither by the Winter Break participates in the DIAL screening.
Kindergarten Enrichment: Kindergarten enrichment opportunities are offered through two different programs. Second Step (a character education curriculum) and
Kids in Motion (a gross motor movement curriculum). These are offered for 20 minutes per week to each of the 5 kindergarten classes.
