Mission Statement
The goal of the library is to ensure that staff
and students are effective users of ideas and information. We
emphasize literature so that students become lifelong readers.
Our goal is to help all children see themselves
as effective readers who can become independent readers. Literacy
enrichment in the library supports the newly adopted Open Court Reading
program. Integrated in this program is 6-Traits Writing
Model.
Reading in the family home should
be a family focus, and is the number-one predictor of success in
school. In order for children to read at home, they must have role
models who read in the home.
All students visit the school library weekly
for library instruction, story and book selection. We encourage
students to choose one book at their reading level. Non-fiction
materials are encouraged to broaden learning styles and interests.
