Essential Academic Learning Requirements in Music
1. The student understands how music connects to other subject areas, life and work.
2. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to create, to perform and to respond effectively to music.
3. The student uses music to communicate ideas and feelings.
4. The student applies the creative process with music knowledge and skills to reason and solve problems
Bruners spiral curriculum ensures that learning in music occurs in a logical pattern.
The sections listed as K-1 activities are beginner level and can be progressed through more quickly with intermediate and more advanced children, but area vital foundation in the skill building process.
The aim at the intermediate (2-3) and advanced (4-5) levels, is to develop leadership for children so they experience the responsibility of musical choice. This develops aesthetic awareness and their
self-confidence and assurance in handling the medium of sound.
