Each year the 7th grade students at Meridian Middle School apply to participate in next year's 8th grade Math/Science California Tour.  25 students are then selected based on essays, recommendations, and their ability to maintain at least a "C" grade in each class with an emphasis placed on effort, cooperation and conduct. These 25 students then fly to San Francisco for a four day tour in the spring.

We visit the Exploratorium, California Academy of Science, Alcatraz, Monterey Bay Aquarium, NASA Space Camp and a host of other scientific related exhibits.  The highlight of the trip for most students is the study of physics completed on the various rollercoasters of the Great America Theme Park.
