About Our School We are proud of a tradition as a small school with small classes and a caring community of parents and staff. During the 2001-2002, school year we have approximately 390 students in grades
6-8 in fifteen classes plus special programs.
June 2002 our 8th graders will be the 28th class promoted to the 9th grade and on to high school. Prior to being a middle school, this campus has been a school for 5th through 7th graders and an elementary school for kindergarten through grade 8. Many of our students have parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and older cousins who have attended this campus. Our campus has grown from 100 students to its present size of 390 students, 40 staff members, countless volunteers, more than 20 coaches, and multiple student programs.
During seven daily periods of 42 minutes, we offer a strong academic program with each student enrolled in Language Arts, Social Studies, Reading, Math, and Science classes. Students are also enrolled in
Music (Band and Choir) and Physical Education classes during each school year. Additionally, students are enrolled in a variety of enrichment classes. Offerings vary per year and grade level, but could include
Keyboarding, Art, Drama, Study Skills, Math Plus, Science Plus, and Recycling.
Our students have access to our Library, a Keyboarding Lab, a PC Computer Lab (with Internet connection), a Gym, a Breakfast and
Lunch program, and a variety of opportunities for school service (such as P.E. Aide at Ten Mile Creek Elementary and Peer Tutoring)
We offer special academic programs such as English Language Learners (previously called ESL), Special Education, and Title 1 for Math and Reading. We also have a full time counselor and part time Interventionist,
both who work closely with students in classrooms and individually.
Through intense staff efforts and parent support, students are involved in many field trips and other off campus experiences. High student expectations for these activities are expected and maintained. This is a

Our community passed a capital bond levy in March 2001. The money was planned for a variety of district projects. Part of the money was spent to completely repaint the exterior of our middle school buildings.
The roof for our main building was also replaced. The most dramatic change to our campus is the addition of a new full-size gymnasium and an enlarged parking lot. The gym should be completed by late spring 2002 and
the parking lot should be completed shortly thereafter. We are appreciative of the community support for these middle school projects!
