Welcome to Ten Mile Creek Elementary.  Our school community is made up of students, parents and school staff members.  Ten Mile is a small school with a present enrollment of 207 fourth and fifth graders.  We have 15 certified staff and 15 classified staff here on a daily basis.  Included in these numbers are custodians, cafeteria workers, instructional assistants, classroom teachers and specialists who teach music, p.e. and provide special assistance to students with specific needs.  A school really is a small community.

By providing food, health care and emotional support along with the subjects we teach, you can see that we are committed to the whole child.  We want our students to have the best possible opportunities to learn and we work hard to provide for their many and varied needs.

How do parents fit into this Ten Mile Creek Elementary community?

·        Be watchful.  Don’t believe your kids when they say they don’t have any homework?  Check it out nightly. All of our students keep an assignment calendar that should come home each night listing the homework due in the morning.

·        Practice multiplication and division facts with your child.  We have a good program for this task and parents can quiz their children for short periods using the materials that come home.

·        Keep stuff to read around the house.  Subscribe to a magazine or two.  National Geographic or kids’ versions of like material have a universal appeal.

If your child is having problems at school, please let us know.  Don’t sit on the problem until late in the school year.  We can’t do anything about it if we don’t know. When parents become part of the school community, students have a better chance for success. Your involvement in your child’s education can take many forms.  And because you have a child in school, you are already a member of the community.

Welcome.
