Grades are based an a combination of class work, quizzes, tests and projects. All grades are weighted and students recieve a progress
report aproximately once every three weeks. Click on the word grades to view a detailed description of my grading policy.
Class work -------40% Quizzes - ---------5% Projects --------20% Tests ------------35%
In addition to the academic criteria used in my class I would also like to share some of the expectations I believe help promote a cooperative working environment.
It is hoped these expectations will benefit all students in the classroom. Each student is expected to learn and follow these
Classroom Rules:
1) Be in your seat and prepared to work when the bell rings. 2) Listen to and follow directions the first time given. 3)
Be prepared, this means have your notebook, paper, pencil and assignment each day. 4)
Act appropriately. No running, shouting, profanity, fighting, etc. 5) Show respect for all people and property.
Consequences for not following Classroom Rules:
1) Warning from teacher and misconduct mark. (Any 3 marks in a quarter = Infraction Slip) 2)
Continued disruption will lead to a conference with the teacher after class and an infraction Slip. 3) Referral to the office and conference with parents. 4)
Students who continually break the rules will be excluded from field trips and certain classroom and lab activities.
Expectations
ASSIGNMENTS:
I feel that as eighth graders you are now responsible young adults and will be required to turn in your assignments in a timely fashion. Therefore, no late assignments will ībe
accepted in my classroom. Exceptions will be excused absences and prior permission from me. You will have one day to make up assignments missed due to absences.
It will be your responsibility to turn all assignments in on time. If you are absent, you will be responsible for finding out what assignments were missed.
MATERIALS:
Each student will be responsible for the following materials in science class.
1.Paper and pencil 2.Calculator 3.Computer disc 4.Notebook
