The linked pages from here are just a disjointed sundry of widgets, gadgets, and gizmos that I have created along the way. Some are useful, some are a thought that I had, some are just made on a whim. To get back to this page just hit the back button in your browser. Welcome to the twilight webzone....

Science/Technology Core Web Site Example
This is an example of what your web site should look like whe you are completed with Freshman Project-Part 2 web site.

Fake Resume
(you made need to hit the back button two or three times rather quickly to get back to this page) An assignment in one of my classes. The 3-D Rotating cube (which only works in IE--don't worry I have a redirect page for Netscape folks...my browser of choice) is the first Applet I've ever used on a page. Other than the applet everything was done using raw html....I used to use it for everything but since Dreamweaver came on the market....why bother except for tweaking a site.

Period (.)
Yes, that little four pixel dot that ends most sentences. Could you ever imagine a website dedicated to whether or not there should be one space or two after those four little pixels. If you don't know if you should one or two spaces read on. Bottom line it is one space...don't bother arguing about it I'll when. :)

Killer Coasters
When I put this web together I tried to cram as many Dreamweaver concepts in as few pages as I could comfortably do and still give students the repition and practice most need when learning a new piece of software. Oh yea, Coasters ROCK!!! In my opinion riding a "Killer Coaster" is the most fun you can legally have in public...

Desktops (click on the hyperlink to view the desktop--file size is listed next to each...yes, they are large files-I could shrink the file size but...) I will add other desktops periodically. I have a couple of ideas that I'm bouncing around so if you like these check back sometime.

Planet of the Apes (290K)...Inspired by the quote "Bow your heads!"...I just thought it sounded cool and for some strange reason I thought that Windblows (is that a typo?) should bow down before the superior Mac OS. If your a Windoze user you can use it too...just think if you put this desktop on a PC the screen will be the coolest thing on your computer. The original ape image came from the Planet of the Apes website...and I doctored it up some...the Apple logo came from the white Apple sticker that all Mac owners should proudly display...after cleaning up the ape head a bit I put it all together. The "Rule the Planet" was a nice touch I thought. I use this as my system sound....I went through some cyber calastenics to get this sound bite...(nothing digital is safe)...I'm sure I broke nearly every copyright law in the book getting the sound bite...I pulled it off the movie trailer from the official web site. Try it, it isn't as easy as you may think....Just in case if the studio bosses come across this page (yea right) I did pay to see the movie twice and I did buy the DVD...so you did get your money from me....so relax a bit and enjoy the millions that you made off the movie...can't wait for the sequel.

Star Wars desktops...I've made three of them. Darth Death Star (402K) which was the most difficult to make...I scanned the half face of Darth Vader of the VHS box (yes, I bought the trilogy box set) I scanned it at 1200 dpi...cleaned it up flipped it to get the other half so I could have all of Vader's face...I ran across the Death Star someplace I forget where...using Photoshop I made Vader's face opaque and viola there you have it...The next one I made is Young Vader (377K) this is the same picture that was used to promote Phantom Menace. I just took the text out of the picture and made some other minor changes...Apple Head Vader (403K) I think this is my favorite desktop that I have put together...the images came from a variety of fan pages and I used the same Vader head creation that I did for the Darth Death Star and the Apple logo from the Planet of the Apes desktop...I did Vader Force (142K) one night when I couldn't sleep and when I got tired I figured I was done. It is blatant Mac propoganda...

MacQuarium--Swim Different
This is a full fledged website. If you have ever wondered what should I do with that old Mac hardware....here is your answer. PC users will like doing it because they think destroying any kind of Mac hardware is a good thing. Little do they know they are extending the life of that hardware indefinately. Mac users will like doing it because it becomes a shrine in and of itself. The MacQuarium--Swim Different web site will walk you through step-by-step instructions so you will be able to make your own. The fish that went into my MacQuarium is still alive and kicking 2 years later. I have plans to make other MacQuarums--like a working computer with a fish tank inside it with a web cam throwing a picture of the fish up on the web...we'll see what ever comes of that idea. My MacQuarium has been in my classroom the entire time. Students, parents, and staff love it. I have been asked to make them for others but it does take a bit of time to make one...I would guess 15 to 20 hours maybe a bit more...when I made mine I was creating the web site at the same time so it took me a week or so during one summer.

Magazine Covers
This is an assignment we do in the Computer Applications class. Prior to this we have gone through a cursory overview of PageMaker. Included in these pages is the rubric that I use for grading the project. Students have enjoyed this project in past years. The examples included here are from Tonya Skinner's web site and from Jonathan Archer's web site. In time I will add some of the more noteworthy examples of my students work. If you would like to download the rubric that I use in class you are welcome to it. I have the rubric in Word and PDF format.

Copter
What is the highest you can score? Can you become the next Yoda of Copter?

RedSquare
Do you have skills? Can you put Mr. D to shame? He doesn't think so... are you up for the challenge?
