A Message from Principal Todd Torgeson

Dear families,

You may have seen on social media or heard in the community about safety concerns in the area near Meridian Middle School for tomorrow Jan. 28. Please know our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our students.

We are working closely with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office. They have advised us there is no known credible threat to our school and plans are in place to address any safety concerns. Out of an abundance of caution, the sheriff’s office will have an increased presence near our school tomorrow.

Again, the safety concern does not directly involve our school. However, I wanted to make sure you were informed of why you’ll see added law enforcement presence in the area around our school.

Please reach out if you have any questions, but please understand the information I can share is limited as this is a law enforcement matter.

Thank you,

Todd Torgeson
