A Message from Meridian School District Reminder: No School Friday, May 13 This is a reminder that Friday, May 13 is a no school day for all students. Staff workdays are used for professional development. All school offices are closed to the public on these days. Dear families,   We have two leadership announcements to share. Meridian High School Shaun Doffing has been filling in as a leave replacement assistant principal since February and has been a great addition to Meridian High School. We are excited to announce that he has been hired as the new assistant principal. Mr. Doffing will continue the year with us and begin his permanent position in July. From 2004-2016, Mr. Doffing taught business and AVID classes at Sedro-Woolley High School. He also coached basketball and served as the FBLA advisor. Fall State Test Scores Available, Budget Feedback and Annual Awards

Fall Smarter Balanced Test Scores Available Now Scores for students who completed Smarter Balanced assessments in fall 2021 are now available through Skyward Family Access. Washington uses the Smarter Balanced tests to measure English language arts (ELA) and math proficiency in grades three through eight and ten. These tests and score results meet state and federal requirements. Families can access scores by logging in to Skyward Family Access, then clicking Portfolio on the bottom left of their screen, from there look for 2021 Fall SBA Scores. A Message from Meridian School District Dear families, This afternoon we shared with staff that Principal Dawn Christiana has accepted a job as the new principal at Cascadia Elementary School in Ferndale School District. Mrs. Christiana will end the year with IRE and begin her new role in Ferndale in July. Mrs. Christiana has been principal at IRE since fall 2019. Before coming to Meridian, she worked in Bellingham Public Schools for 12 years as a teacher and director of teaching and learning. Posted April 20, 2022 Message for 7th and 8th grade families Dear families, Sexual health education lessons will be delivered to seventh and eighth grade students in May. Eighth grade lessons will take place during CCR and PE class periods May 20 through May 27. Seventh grade lessons will take place May 31 through June 3 during Spanish and PE classes. COVID-19 vaccine not required for students next fall

A Message from Meridian School District Dear families, students and staff, Today, the State Board of Health (SBOH), who determines immunization requirements for students, voted to not require students be vaccinated against COVID-19 for school attendance. This means this fall, immunization requirements for our students will remain unchanged. SBOH supports the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine and notes that vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and others from severe illness.
