It was amazing to see so many families in the building this week, connecting with our teachers to set students up for a successful year!\u00a0\u00a0If you weren’t able to make it in – we understand.\u00a0\u00a0Take a quick moment to send a ParentSquare message to your child’s Homeroom teacher.\u00a0\u00a0We’d still love to connect and hear more about what we can do to help support your student and family this year!<\/div>\n

Students are continuing to build relationships and skills to be successful this year.\u00a0\u00a0Pictured above, students in Megan Wolven’s math class completed team building challenges last week to learn about what good cooperation looks like.<\/div>\n

On a more reflective note, today, Meridian Middle School joined communities across the country in marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. During our morning announcements, we paused to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, the families and communities forever changed, and the first responders and ordinary people who demonstrated extraordinary courage and service in the days that followed.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Several classes also marked the anniversary in a variety of subject-appropriate ways, giving students opportunities to learn about and reflect on an event that occurred before they were born but continues to shape our country and world today.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As a school, we connected this anniversary to the values we work to build in our students every day. Being caring, courageous, trustworthy, and open-minded includes learning from our history, showing compassion for others, and understanding the responsibility we each have to strengthen our community.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Students and staff concluded our morning remembrance with a schoolwide moment of silence. Twenty-five years later, we honor those who were lost while continuing to build a school community where every person belongs and we show up for one another.<\/div>\n
