MMS families,<\/div>\n

One of the things we have been intentional about this year is finding more ways to hear directly from students about their experiences at MMS and what we can do to make our school even better.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We started the year by meeting individually with every 6th grader, checking in on their transition to middle school, their connections with adults and peers, and how things were going. Now, we’re working our way through every 8th grader, talking about their final year at MMS, their role as school leaders, and what they’re thinking and feeling as they get closer to high school.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We’re also beginning Hispanic Student Voice conversations, where our cultural liaison will meet with small groups of students to better understand their experiences with belonging, relationships, classroom learning, and school expectations. We’re hoping these conversations help us recognize what’s working well and where we have opportunities to improve.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Finally, our Student Advisory has a new structure this year! Our ASB officers are leading meetings with representatives from every Homeroom, gathering feedback and helping bring student perspectives into school decisions. The picture above is from their first meeting, where students were collecting ideas about playground equipment and activities for lunch.<\/div>\n

All four of these efforts are about the same thing: making sure students have a voice in the school they come to every day. We know we won’t be able to act on every suggestion, but we want students to know we’re listening, that their experiences matter, and that their ideas can help shape what MMS looks like moving forward.<\/div>\n
