Greetings Meridian Students and Families,
I have some news to share about one of our building administrators. Earlier today Kevin Hersom, Irene Reither Elementary Assistant Principal, announced he has accepted a new employment opportunity in a different field.
Over the last four years, Mr. Hersom has been an outstanding, supportive leader at Irene Reither Elementary. He has championed students by dedicating himself to provide multiple opportunities for students to connect and to partner with parents to support the mission at Irene Reither Elementary.
Mr. Hersom helped build the Positive Behavior Intervention System used IRE. He also strengthened the messaging around Trojan Traits, developed monthly Good Citizen assemblies, and helped IRE focus on students’ strengths. Mr. Hersom also brought the “Watch D.O.G.S.” (Dads of Great Students) program to IRE and partnered with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office to support our students at lunch and recess. We are grateful for his presence, kindness, and support of our students and families.
Mr. Hersom will be transitioning to his new role over the next few weeks. We wish him much success. I will be working closely with Mrs. Christiana and Irene Reither’s building leadership team to determine our next steps to best supports our students, staff, and families. If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or Mrs. Christiana, firstname.lastname@example.org.
