Meridian School District is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for our students, staff, families and community. We want all members of our learning community to feel physically, emotionally and academically safe at school. In order to achieve this, we are implementing the I Love U Guys Foundation Standard Response Protocol and Reunification Process.

Standard Response Protocol
Meridian School District, along with all school districts in the county, follow Standard Response Protocol (SRP). A benefit of Standard Response Protocol is that it creates a uniform class and school response to an incident. Whether the incident is weather related, a fire, accident, intruder or other student safety scenario, students and staff will be trained and ready to respond appropriately.
SRP is not based on one individual scenario but on the response to any given scenario. It uses the same standard language all first responders use. The protocol allows for a predictable series of actions as an unpredictable event unfolds.

Get inside. Lock outside doors.
Lockdown
Locks, lights, out of sight.
Evacuate
A location may be specified.

Safety Tip Line
We are committed to doing our part to keep our schools a safe and healthy place to be, but we also need your help. If you or your student has concerns about safety at your school, please do not hesitate to contact your school principal. You may also report tips through our safety tip line. This anonymous reporting tool can be used for many reasons including reporting bullying or drug use and health and safety concerns for students.
When leaving a tip on the safety tip line, it is important to include as much information as possible such as where the event took place, who was involved and when it happened. Please encourage your student to either send a report through the tip line or speak to a trusted adult if they have a safety concern.

A code is provided to you upon submitting a tip. This code allows you to track the progress of the tip you submitted or to see any follow-up comments or responses. Using this code maintains confidentiality while also ensuring communication to follow through with a response to the tip.

Emotional Safety
Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying
Meridian School District is committed to a safe educational environment for all students that is free from harassment, intimidation or bullying. In order to ensure respect and prevent harm, it is a violation of policy 3207 for a student to be harassed, intimidated, or bullied by others in the school community, at school sponsored events, or when such actions create a substantial disruption to the educational process. Prohibition of Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Regulation is explained in procedure 3207P.
Anyone who believes that harassment, intimidation or bullying has occurred should report the behavior to a teacher, counselor, school nurse or school administrator. To report unresolved, severe or persistent harassment, you can:
- Contact the administrator at the targeted student’s school.
- Contact the District Office at 360-398-7111.
- Use the Vector Alert system to report online, by text, or by phone.
- Print and complete the HIB reporting form (see below).
Understanding ways to report:
Anonymous: Individuals may file a report without revealing their identity. No disciplinary action will be taken against an alleged aggressor based solely on an anonymous report. Possible responses to an anonymous report include enhanced monitoring of specific locations at certain times of day or increased monitoring of specific students or staff.
Confidential: Individuals may ask that their identities be kept confidential from the alleged aggressor and other students. Like anonymous reports, no disciplinary action will be taken against an alleged aggressor based solely on a confidential report.
Non-confidential: Complainants agreeing to make their complaint non-confidential will be informed that due process requirements may require that the district release all of the information that it has regarding the complaint to any individuals involved in the incident. However, even then, information will still be restricted to those with a need to know, both during and after the investigation. The district will fully implement the anti-retaliation provision of this policy and procedure to protect complainants and witnesses.
