Greetings Meridian Students, Families, and Community,

The link below will take you to Dr. Everett’s latest Superintendent’s Message in the S’more format. In this message, he shares an appreciation for our Veterans and provides collective feedback from students and families about remote learning in the Meridian School District. Please click the link for today’s message: https://www.smore.com/k8u05.

Thank you, Veterans!

The Meridian School District wishes to recognize and thank the many men and women who have served and currently serve, in our country’s armed forces. Having grown up in a military family, I am fortunate to reflect that it is ordinary people, who have and continue to serve our great nation in extraordinary ways. We honor them for their service, sacrifice, and love of country. Through their service, our Veterans have helped keep America strong, and have protected our way of life for almost two and a half centuries. This coming Wednesday, I ask that we not only recognize our Veterans but more importantly, celebrate them.

Thank you, Veterans!

Remote Learning Feedback

A few weeks ago I messaged a desire to seek feedback from our students and families on our remote learning model. Last week we shared your feedback within the district – in the same format as you may access it today. We provided questions to both students and families when I sent out my community message on Wednesday, October 28. The surveys were open for a week. We received over 330 family responses and 400 student responses. I shared within the district that we all have ideas and theories about how things are going and how well we are connecting with our students. Those impressions are fed through our interactions and what we hear from others.

I asked our teachers and staff members, as they read the feedback, to please keep in mind that perception data is always one person’s perception of how well (or poor) things may be going. It’s always important to remember the comment stems from somewhere. This is feedback. This is someone’s truth. This is how we get better. I also shared we would be bringing this collective information back to our community.

More than anything, this feedback should help us all get better. Even as we transition to a hybrid learning model throughout the district, three days of remote teaching and learning will remain an integral part of the overall educational experience of our students. There are great points shared in this information. We know students and families are affected differently as we navigate teaching and learning through this pandemic. Thank you for sharing your feedback and helping us improve with this important information. You can find the responses for both students and families in the following links.
