Purpose/Goal:
- Review data and recommend areas of improvement that would ensure learning thrives for every student. The team serves to bridge the district’s five commitments of Belonging, Communication, Support, Wellness, and Learning by creating safe, equitable, and restorative environments where students and staff feel honored, valued and empowered to succeed.
Basis for Establishment:
- Per Board Policy 3112 and Procedure 3112, this team is charged with making sure our schools are places where every student feels they belong. To do this, the framework of the school and classroom climate improvement process includes three essential elements: creating conditions to support students’ social and emotional learning, building adult capacity, and collaborating with the school community. Components from each of these three essential elements blend together to create the process for improving school and classroom climate.
Decision-making Process:
- The team will use a data-informed and collaborative approach guided by stakeholder feedback. Their recommendations will be presented to the superintendent.
Plan of Work:
- Review procedure 3112, and district data related to school climate and student-wellbeing, including attendance, grades and survey results.
- Identify district priorities and areas of improvement.
- Create an implementation and communication plan.
