We are excited to introduce Erin Groen as our new Food and Nutrition Coordinator. Ms. Groen brings over 30 years of experience in the food industry and a passion for nutrition. After spending two decades at Haggen, she joined the food services team at Meridian High School in 2015. In 2020, she joined PeaceHealth St. Joseph’s Medical Center, initially working as a host delivering meals to patients. She was later promoted to Patient Services Manager, a role she held for over a year. During that time, she collaborated with the executive chef to revamp the entire patient menu working closely with patients to ensure meals were enjoyable and with dietitians to accommodate a wide range of dietary needs.
That commitment to quality food and wellness is something she’s excited to focus on in Meridian. Ms. Groen looks forward to working with the district’s outstanding food service team and believes strongly in collaboration. She values the input and ideas of her colleagues, students and families to help guide meaningful, lasting improvements to the food service program.
“We have a responsibility to feed kids well. It’s not just about food, it’s about giving them the fuel they need to grow, learn and feel cared for,” Groen shared.
