Hello Trojans!
As we move further into the school year, it’s been wonderful to see students connecting with one another and their teachers. That growing sense of belonging is shaping a positive, welcoming atmosphere across campus. Classrooms are filled with collaboration, and students are finding their place both socially and academically. Together, we’re building a community where everyone feels supported and ready to thrive!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Go Trojans!

Submit Your Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application

Families are encouraged to complete an application for free and reduced-price meals for the 2025-26 school year. Healthy, nutritious meals play and important role in supporting your child’s success at school.
If your student was eligible last year, that eligibility will carry over until October 15th. After that date, students will be charged for meals unless a new application is received.
Applications are available in the high school office and by clicking the link below and are accepted all year. Families only need to complete one application for all the children in their household.
Submitting your application ensures your child continues to receive free or reduced-price meals and may also qualify your family for additional benefits. Submit your application today!

Every Day Counts: Thank You!

Thank you, families, for your incredible partnership in promoting strong attendance this month. Your commitment makes a huge difference in your child’s education and their sense of belonging at our school. If your child is sick or has a planned absence, please remember to notify the school office. We are here to support you and your child, every step of the way.

Picture Retakes

Picture Retake Day is October 1st. Students that did not have their picture taken in August, will need to have their picture taken on retake day. These pictures are used for ASB cards and the yearbook, so it is important to make sure that everyone gets their picture taken. Pictures will be taken between 10:00am and 12:00pm in the auditorium. Students on campus will receive a note when it is time for them to go get their picture taken.
If your student had their picture taken but would like retakes, please email Mrs. Gookstetter to have their name added to the retake list.

Senior Class Meeting

Jostens will be here on Tuesday, October 14th during T3 to meet with seniors regarding cap and gown ordering. Packets and information will be available in the office after the meeting for those that are not able to attend.

FAFSA Information

The 2026-2027 FAFSA officially opens on October 1, 2025. Completing the FAFSA early is critical because some aid (including state grants or institutional funds) is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Despite some speculation of reductions, the Pell Grant program remains fully funded. This program supports low-income students. Pell Grants do not need to be repaid and can cover tuition, fees, and other college costs.
Students do not need to wait until October 1st to get ready. Students can :

These events are for all Whatcom and Skagit County students and families at 6-7:30 PM via Zoom.
There are 7 different sessions, all require registration to participate. Here is the link for registration https://www.futuresnw.org/how-we-can-help-2
December 17th is the night dedicated to Meridian High School students. However, the website says to pick which session works best for you and your family.
Please register soon for online support for your college financial aid needs.

Lost and Found

If your student has lost something, have them check the lost and found. The lost and found table is located in the Commons. Items not picked up by the end of the day on Thursday, October 2nd, will be donated.
