Hello Trojans!
It’s been great to see all the energy and spirit around Homecoming this week! Our students and staff have shown incredible creativity and enthusiasm through all the themed activities and celebrations. As we head into the football game on Friday and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, let’s keep that Trojan pride shining bright. Thank you to everyone who’s helped make this week such a fun and positive experience for our whole community!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Go Trojans!

Healthy Youth Survey

Our school will participate in the Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) this Fall. Youth in Washington State have been taking the HYS since 2002. The number of young people taking the survey has grown from only a few thousand to over 215,000 a year! The survey asks about how youth are doing, social relationships, mental health, substance use, risks for injury, and more. Communities, districts, schools, and public health agencies use survey results to inform policies and programs designed to support youth well-being. The HYS is a meaningful way for youth to guide the future of our state. Your youth’s participation is appreciated. Please share this information with your youth. Then talk about the survey and decide if your youth will participate. The survey will take place the week of October 27.
If you have any questions about the purpose of the survey or survey procedures, please contact the Healthy Youth Survey Principal Investigator at (877) HYS-7111 or by email at healthy.youth@doh.wa.gov. More information about the Healthy Youth Survey can be found at: www.AskHYS.net
If you would like to opt your student out of participating, please email Kelly Gookstetter at kgookstetter@meridian.wednet.edu

Letterman Jackets

Jostens will be here on Tuesday during lunch with information about ordering a Letterman Jacket. They will have samples to try on, if you a curious about what size you might need. Be sure to have your student swing by their table at lunch for more information.

Senior Photos

Senior pictures are due by DEC. 19, 2025 for inclusion in the yearbook’s senior section. Photos may be submitted anytime before then. If no picture is submitted and no ASB (school) photo is taken, your student will not appear in the senior section.
Photo Submission Guidelines:
  • Email a high-resolution JPEG (300dpi) to yearbook@meridian.wednet.edu with the senior’s full name in the subject line. Example: “Smith, Tim senior pic for yearbook”
  • Photos must be portrait orientation (4×5 or 8×10) and may include the whole body but we may have to crop closer so the students face is clear.
  • No props near the face/head that covers the face or is a distraction. Pictures that include full-body shots, cars, animals etc. may be rejected if the image has too many distractions or results in a low resolution or distracting crop of the image. Weapons or anything that violates school dress code will be rejected.
  • No screencaps. If you screencap from your phone the image will be unprintable. We require a jpeg/jpg file. Please ask your photographer ahead if they can send you (or Mr. McGrew) the high resolution jpeg/jpg file. iPhone photos are not compatible (they are not jpeg/jpg files).
We reserve the right to not use a picture deemed inappropriate. If you don’t receive a reply from Mr. McGrew, your photo was not received or accepted. You are responsible for ensuring it is sent.

October is Disability Awareness Month

October is Disability Awareness Month – a time to celebrate the contributions, talents, and voices of people with disabilities, while also recognizing the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity. This month is a reminder to challenge stereotypes, promote understanding, and support efforts that break down barriers—both physical and societal. Join us in honoring Disability Awareness Month by learning more, listening deeply, and standing up for a more inclusive community for everyone.
