Veronica Scellick, a senior at Meridian High School, is passionate about raising awareness for students and community members with disabilities. As someone with multiple disabilities herself, Disability History and Awareness Month in October holds special meaning for her.
Veronica believes that representing people with disabilities shouldn’t be limited to October but should happen all year round. She is raising awareness by speaking about her own disabilities, not only to increase understanding but also to celebrate the strengths of students with disabilities.
“It is important for everyone to see that our community includes people with disabilities who play such a vital part,” Veronica said.
While Veronica acknowledges the challenges she faces as a person with disabilities, she also views her disabilities positively. She aims to show others in her school and community that having disabilities is a good thing and not something to fear.
Veronica hopes to inspire others to embrace their differences and celebrate the unique contributions of every individual.
Thank you for your advocacy Veronica!
